Innovate.  Play.  Learn.

Making music during 2020 has challenged us to rethink how we teach, learn, and make music. Musicians must now be able to innovate, improvise, and be nimble. MusicFest will explore these necessary skill sets, as well as build performance skills through virtual interactive sessions. In addition, there will be special growth sessions just for music directors.

Keynote Speakers:

  • Sarah Whitney:  Celebrated violinist, teacher, coach, and musical maverick of Sybarite5 will present a program entitled the Productive Musician.

  • The Sphinx Virtuosi, the nation's most dynamic and exhilarating chamber orchestra, will present a program entitled Diversity in the Arts.

WAU Music Faculty will present masterclasses on all instruments:

  • Larry Williams, WAU Professor of Horn and Yamaha Performing Artist, will present a horn masterclass on Wednesday, March 10th 2pm- 3pm.  The masterclass is free and open to the public.  Zoom Link

A virtual concert will include performances by representative high schools and a special collaborative performance of Adolphus Hailstork's He's Got the Whole World in His Hands made up of all MusicFest participants. It will be streamed on Friday, March 26, at 7 pm EST on our Facebook page.  Scholarship winners will also be announced during the concert.
